Module 4: Making Video Projects – Production
Recording the Video: This is where all of your careful pre-production planning pays off: it’s time to record your video. Here are several tips for capturing good quality video and audio (Video segment from Larry’s slideshow on the DIYEFT page?). Do we also need a separate PDF/slideshow/whatever for definitions of different shots and when to you use them? That’s covered in Larry’s slideshow.

What do we need to say about in-camera stop-motion edits and animations? I don’t really have any experience with this…

Don’t forget your release forms. Any on-screen talent or extras will need to sign one so that you can use their material in your project. You may also need to get permission to shoot in certain locations. (Do we need this? In the outline I put something about mentioning copyright, but releases and permissions are actually what I meant. If we don’t feel like we need it we can just delete this paragraph.)

Capturing the Audio: It’s important to keep an ear out for details when you’re recording your video. What you see is only half the picture, and bad audio can put a big dent in an otherwise great video project. Here are some quick and easy ways to ensure good audio (Audio segment from Larry’s slideshow on the DIYEFT page? Other?).

You’ll find that sometimes you can’t get all the sounds you might want or need when you’re recording your video. Here are some basic foley techniques to help finish your audio recording.
